Company Background
Our grandfather started our family trucking business in the 1950s with just one truck. Despite tough times, he kept the company afloat. By the late 1990s, we operated from the same building where he once worked. Though he didn’t see it, we know he’d be proud.
Growing up, my brother and I were deeply involved in the business, from cleaning trailers to attending important meetings. This hands-on experience taught us the realities of the trucking industry, including its challenges and risks.

When we founded Bluewater, our goal was to help trucking companies reduce costs and improve their insurance profiles. We focus on driver hiring, loss prevention, and CSA compliance to help clients achieve lower insurance rates and ensure their drivers’ safety.

Ben cut his teeth in trucking at a young age, helping his family operate their 300-unit trucking company in Georgia, Davis Transfer Company, working primarily in a safety and compliance role. He is frequently called upon to consult with large transportation risks
around the country and has been involved with a number of industry trade organizations, including The Transportation Lawyers Association, The Transportation Industry Defense Association, The Georgia Motor Trucking Association and The South Carolina Trucking Association. He provides a full range of brokerage and consulting services for his clients in an effort to lower their total cost of risk.
In addition to transportation expertise, Ben has a unique and valuable real estate and development background. Ben served as a corporate attorney for Pilot Company (“Pilot”), operators of the largest truck stop network in North America, prior to entering the insurance business, advising Pilot Company’s executives on complex real estate, development, and environmental issues. During his time at Pilot, Ben worked on 80+ complex commercial transactions spread across 22 deferent states and 3 Canadian provinces. Ben distinguishes himself from his competitors by learning every detail of his clients’ businesses then carefully custom tailoring programs to help drive profitability into their businesses.
